Zanzibar

“Jambo, rafiki!” This is the Swahili greeting that you will hear from the warm and inviting locals when you arrive in Zanzibar, the “spice islands”.

The greeting means “Hello, friend” – and you will indeed be greeted by some of the friendliest people in the world when you visit this island archipelago in the Indian Ocean, just off the coast of East Africa. There are four main islands in Zanzibar, three that accommodate human populations, and the fourth a coral island.

Unguja, the main island, is sometimes informally referred to as “Zanzibar”. Pemba Island is the second-largest of the islands.

As the number-one beach location in East Africa, Zanzibar is a holiday destination that offers tropical beaches, lush plantations, an extraordinary history, and a fascinating culture. Apart from historic Stone Town, with its labyrinth of narrow streets, Zanzibar is known for its beautiful palm-fringed beaches and pristine coral reefs.

Close to historic Stone Town but a world away from the hustle and bustle, this luxurious resort is all about tropical beauty.
